Why did I change the name from 'The Keeper' to 'The Pale'?

There's something about lighthouses and PSX graphics that seem to attract a lot of developers. I was aware of one project "no one lives under the lighthouse" that I knew would have some similarities to my game during development, so I've avoided any PSX game with even a beach in it, to not influence myself. Because of this, I missed the fact that there is already a game on Itch already called The Keeper (https://comp3interactive.itch.io/the-keeper), part of the haunted PS1 demo disk. It's great, give it a play.

Due to this, I'm changing the name of the project. The Keeper is partially a red herring in my game - only the intro of the game features a lighthouse. I wanted to set up people to expect a short horror lighthouse experience only to give them a very very different experience about a very strange island. So, "The Pale" was is a better overall fit for the game's title.

Video dev logs

I'm making one at the moment, it'll be out in about a week, covering development of this first act and some of the mechanics I'm working on for the later parts of the game currently. It's on a new channel, plox sub (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHtZk6aBHGOMUSeJ8srxnXA)

Let's plays

It's a unique experience to see your own game played on the youtubes. Amazing and flattering; and terrifying. The real horror is watching a game dev watch a let's player run through a trigger you know can be buggy and praying there's no hardware settings that break the game.

Itch deindex

No idea why, but I've been taken 'off' itch. The game no longer indexes when searched for or in the popular category. If you want a friend to see the game, please share it with them because it's basically invisible on itch until that is resolved. I'm hoping this will be fixed after support review.
